The Subjective Cognition Types of College Student who Majors in Social Welfare toward the Elderly Using Q-Methodology

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze that the cognition types and it``s characteristics towardthe elderly of college student who majors in social welfare with application of Q-Methodology. Q-population came from attitude towards the elderly, the related references, the advancedresearch, interview and semi-structured questionnaire. The Q-population consisted totally of 68 ofQ-statements. The selected items were 38 of Q-samples within 68 of those were consideredduplication of contents and clarity of expression. P-sample was selected by convenience samplingmethod for 39 person who were majored in social welfare at the college or university. Thecollected data were analyzed with PC-QUANL Program. The result of this study was as follow. The cognition types of college student who majors insocial welfare on the elderly could be found out as three types as follow£ºType ¥° was ¡®takingdignity of elderly seriously¡¯. Type ¥± was ¡®taking given the role of elderly seriously¡¯. Type ¥²was ¡®taking retirement preparation of elderly seriously¡¯. This result will be available to teach the student who majors in social welfare and improvequality of value education on the elderly.
